January 2010 (2)
Paul and I had a tremendous production meeting this past week, scheduling backwards from our target dates. Our target dates are now May 18th (my 37th birthday) for a CD Release date, and June 5th for a CD release concert date. We are both tremendously excited. We’re going to be refining a few of the demo versions over the next few weeks, after which point it’s time to take the songs to the band members who will be either performing their instrumental parts in the studio recording process, or at the CD release concert, or both. Having conceived the entire project in the fall of 2008, and officially commencing it in the spring of 2009, it’s taken less than a year to see this to the studio phase. I’m naturally encouraged by that. Servant, my debut album in 1995, took 2 and a half years to finalize, so this is good news.
So essentially: 1) we rerecord some demos, 2) we take them to the band, 3) the band rehearses and we nail down the additional components, 4) we go to the studio to record, 5) once studio recording is done we add any additional elements that would complement the final mix, then 6) the mixes in for “mastering” (preparing a master that is the best possible mix, consistent audio levels, CD track preparation etc.), then send it off for duplication!
We’re pretty much right on track, and we’ve projected out far enough that I am 95% confident that we’re going to hit these dates. Stay tuned for an evite for the CD concert release date. If you haven’t signed up on the mailing list yet, take the opportunity to do so now – this is how I’ll be primarily communicating with everyone.
Thanks so much, and God’s blessings on you!
